What sections of the note does Copy Forward check?
Copy Forward checks all sections of the note, but excludes items such as headers from your EMR.
- If components of the Audit Score are copied forward, this will negatively impact the Audit Score for that specific provider.
- We report copied forward CPT Code Mins and Units in the Charge Capture Diversity tab, but this does not influence the Audit Score.
Does Copy Forward include assessment paragraphs as well?
Yes, Copy Forward includes all structured and unstructured text of the note. The only thing that is excluded is text carried through by default in the EMR, such as headers.
Does Copy Forward go between providers?
Yes we are measuring Copy Forward from one note to another within one episode of care, no matter the provider performing the documentation.
Does Prompt Insight exclude Copy Forwarded notes from the audit score?
We do not exclude notes from the audit score if they are copied forward. However, these notes will receive a low score for the individual component that is completely copied forward which could negatively influence the overall score for the visit.
How is Copy Forward affected by my EMR?
Each EMR will have a certain amount of information that is copied forward so the average Copy Forward rate varies between EMRs. The Copy Forward only impacts the score if the information is required for compliance.
Will a high Copy Forward rate lower my audit score?
A high Copy Forward rate will only lower your audit score if the information copied forward is a required component of the note type.
Can I see the Copy Forward score for a specific note?
Today, you cannot search our platform for a specific patient note. However, using your filter set you can narrow down the information you are looking at by date and by note type to get a more targeted answer to your query. You can also click into the graphs under the General Practice Metrics tab which will highlight which notes are included within your filter set to help you better understand which specific notes are included in the filter set.
What is Coding Copy Forward?
Coding Copy Forward is a different metric from Copy Forward. This metric is found under the Charge Capture Diversity tab of the platform. Coding Copy Forward is a measure of combined units and minutes that are copied forward from one visit to the next. Please note, this particular measure does not impact the compliance score.
